SIS, Swedish Standards Institute has launched a new website with a better solution for e-commerce. Mogul has delivered the complete solution.
SIS, Swedish Standards Institute, is a member-based, nonprofit organization that specializes in national and international standards. At SIS, companies and organizations influence the development of standards and purchasing standards, manuals and training services.
SIS markets over one hundred thousand different products on its web site, about 70 0000 standards, information on standardization activities and ongoing projects as well as a wide variety of manuals and training courses.
The solution is a pure business-to-business site with a target audience of both technical users, business developers, participants in the standardization projects of researchers and policy makers. The site has a central role in the organization's communications, marketing and sales.
The need at the start of the project was that users found it difficult to navigate and find the right products. Once the user had found a product she perceived it to be difficult to determine version, alternative standards, its context or placement on the site.
SIS wanted a break from the inside-and-out fashion, and instead wanted to apply a structure in which the user could more easily find what she wanted and get better information about the product. This is something that benefits both the buyer and the user as well as the SIS's sales. SIS's clients are often experts in their fields, their needs are specialized and they demand to easily find what they are looking for.
This applies specifically in the event when one is looking for information on current or future standardization projects or standards. For the further business development the widening of key stakeholder groups is crucial - the site needs to support SIS's overall vision with more standardization projects and broaden the use of standards in both private and public sectors.
Mogul's work has been a complete assignment, starting with concept, usability and design and continuing in solution development based on dual platforms implementations of EPiServer and Enova. The solution is integrated with the search engine Adeptic and with SIS's financial, product and customer systems. An extensive SEO work (search engine optimization) has also been implemented.
- SIS has a complex business model, we offer the market a platform to influence the future standards, sales of finished product standards, manuals, training courses and online services. This gives high demands on the platform's design to expose five such different business models in one. With Mogul's help we have been able to put together our offerings in a way that appeals to all audiences, says SIS's marketing director Martin Engberg. Mogul's consultants have had an understanding of both user value and business benefit. We look forward to enhanced sales and project participation through this, he adds.
- This is just the right assignment for us, says Jan-Erik Lindgren, Account Manager at Mogul. A project like this also has high demands on the project team in regards to the understanding of both user behavior and technology. And it requires considerable commitment of both us as suppliers and the client and their internal IT department. This for a long period of high project intensity. It's extra fun when the result is good and the website goes live, he concludes.
