Svenska Dagbladet
The editors at Svd.se can easily create teaser elements with different themes by combining different content modules.

Award-winning news site with quality in the details

SvD.se was selected as best media site in 2007 and the 10th best site in 2008 by Internetworld. Around 700,000 unique visitors and just over 7 million page views a week demands a technical solution that can stand up to the pressure.

Long pages that entice us to read on
Mogul, together with Svenska Dagbladet, has developed SvD’s new website www.svd.se. One of SvD’s most important requirements was to be able to create a varied layout that is visually exciting and encourages further reading. We realized early on that the way the editors wanted to work could not be realized by traditional means with publishing systems.

For this reason, Mogul produced a special component that makes it possible for SvD to build sections by combining modules that the editor drags and drops in the right place. These modules can consist of anything from text, images, video, and voting to automatically generated lists. The editors can then freely change the placing of these modules, preview them, and change them, etc. until the desired layout is achieved.

Smart integrations for effective publishing
In addition to all the articles that are written by SvD’s own journalists, information is collected from a number of external sources, such as weather systems, image databases, advertising systems, SIX financial information, other Schibsted sites and the Swedish Central News Agency.

200,000 articles moved to the new publishing system
It is easier said than done to move 200,000 articles without breaking links or losing properties and information. Together with SvD’s technical team, an export process was programmed in the old publishing system that created several XML files that were then imported into the new system. The job was run every evening and the results were tested during the days.

One framework, several media sites
To meet the demands placed on one of Sweden’s most visited websites, the development has been carried out on the Content Management system Escenic. As the framework offers considerable flexibility, it is employed by several other
media sites in the Schibsted group: E24.se, Z24.nl
(Holland), E24.fr (France).

  • Users?

User requirements in relation to your specific business are the key to success on the web. For this reason, we work with user profiles (personas). We usually do this in a smart four-step process that helps the first critical steps towards a better website become more secure and goal-oriented. Click here to learn more.
